To advance the delivery of healthcare and related services across the Southern Lakes, by initiating and driving projects that improve health outcomes and reduce inequities for everyone in our community.
Our communities in Queenstown Lakes and Central Otago are growing fast, our public health services are struggling to keep up and there’s no immediate government funding to build new hospitals or clinics.
The Southern Lakes Health Trust was created by locals, for locals – to support the long-term improvement of public health services across the Otago Central Lakes region through the Otago Central Lakes Health Project.
So far, 18 months of research and planning has gone into helping build a strong case for action. That work has already been presented to the Minister of Health – but we’re not done yet.
To keep this momentum going, we’ll need further funding to support community consultation, detailed planning, and the next steps toward better public health services for everyone in our region.
“Current service capacity and service mix in the Central Lakes districts is stretched and insufficient to meet increasing local population numbers”
